Non-alcoholics Anonymous

Zero percent

My name’s Neil and I’m a non-alcoholic.

I mean that in two ways. Firstly, I’m not an alcoholic. But secondly, and more significantly, I’m dry.  No, I don’t need moisturiser. Well, maybe a little in winter, but that’s a separate issue. No, I mean I’m tee-totally abstinent. I’m off the juice and on the wagon. I’m a non-drinker of alcohol.

I made the decision to stop drinking alcohol in 2006 on health grounds. I’ve since been on dates, stag nights and dancing in night clubs without the steadying arm of alcohol around my shoulder.

I’ve been to around 60 countries in the world, the majority of them since I stopped drinking. I’ve been ostracised at a Lao baci ceremony, cross-examined during Vietnamese New Year and tag-team taunted on the Trans-Siberian express. People have inferred that I’m less than a man in far more languages than I’ll ever be able to speak.

Welcome to my blog.

    Hi Neil!

I think this is a great idea. As a fellow non-alcoholic, I thought I’d just wave and say hi!

    Good luck…

    Hi Neil

I’ve just stumbled across your blog after ‘Googling’ alcohol free lifestyle. I too am a non alcoholic but after an illustrious 35 year drinking career, I’ve decide to give it up & reboot my lifestyle (expanding waist line & very little energy).

Really appreciate the great tips, advise & encouragement this blog offers.

It’s only day six and my concentration levels have gone through the roof and as I sit in my office I feel like a caged animal full of energy!! It really is like removing a ball and chain.

    Look forward to future posts..

Hi Neil. Your non-alcoholic anonymous entry is downright hilarious, thanks for that. I had a go to that lifestyle before, with the support of that excellent website, but not it’s time to fly with my own wings, if you know what I mean. I’ll keep reading more of the stuff you write, as I feel better knowing that I’m not the only only one out there who thinks that the best thinks in life are alcohol-free. Cheers!

Sorry, where it says: “…not is time…” it should read: “now is time” 🙂
